Arlene Wesley Cash, a national leader in enrollment management with nearly 40 years of professional experience, is now Frostburg State University’s vice president for enrollment management.

Since 2013, Arlene has been an executive consultant to four institutions–Georgian Court University (Lakewood, NJ), Bennett College (Greensboro, NC), Paul Smith’s College (Paul Smiths, NY), and University of the Pacific (Stockton, CA). From 2003-13 she was the first person to hold the position of vice president for enrollment management at Spelman College in Atlanta.

Recently, Arlene served as the vice president for enrollment management at Guilford College. Prior to Guilford, she served at Georgian Court as interim vice president of enrollment management, Bennett as special assistant to the president for strategic enrollment management, Paul Smith’s as advisor to the president on diversity and enrollment issues and Pacific as vice provost for enrollment.

As vice president for enrollment management at Spelman, she brought a community-wide strategy to the successful recruiting, retention and graduation of students and developed a 10-year enrollment plan incorporating the academic, student life, financial and business goals of the college.

Previously, Arlene was dean of enrollment and associate provost for institutional outreach at the University of Arkansas, associate dean for enrollment and director of admissions at University of Massachusetts, associate director of admissions at Boston University and Brandeis University, and associate director for graduate admissions at Kent State University (OH).

She has published articles about affordability and access in college admissions and has made numerous public presentations at professional meetings and been interviewed on NBC’s “Today” show and NPR’s “Talk of the Nation.”

Arlene Cash earned a master of arts in philosophy from Kent State University and a bachelor degree with majors in English and philosophy from Keuka College (NY) She expects to complete her doctorate in higher education management from the University of Georgia in December.
