After an eight year career with State Farm insurance and two years working for a nonprofit serving low income families, Tom Hoener has spent the last sixteen years as a senior higher education administrator. Although his primary focus has been in the Graduate and Adult learner arenas at Mount St. Mary’s University, Los Angeles and California Lutheran University, he also has experience in Financial Aid, Marketing and Traditional Undergraduate Admission.
In his current position as Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management for California Lutheran University, Tom is a strong operational leader who is adept at collaborating across campus to meet enrollment targets and strategic initiatives. Within the Enrollment and University Marketing division, which includes almost sixty staff members, he is responsible for offering guidance to directors and staff across the division. Tom’s favorite areas of work include international admission and staff development. International admission aligns with his strong interest in world cultures and politics, while his academic background in Psychology supports his effort to help staff grow.
